Should we all formally thank AG for the code?

I think we've said it all through our purchases, but should we write letters or emails to AG thanking them for the code and how wonderful we thought it was and how it encouraged all of us to spend more than we ever thought we would.

I think I will write to them and hopefully they'll be inspired to issue some other discounts during the year as well. At least for free shipping on $100 or more or something like that. Gymboree does that all the time and went I had my Gymbo habit it encouraged me to purchase as well.

ps... what other types of perks would you like to see? My friend today said she'd like to see the points on the club to be convertible to gift certs to use for regular online purchases.

I would like to see free shipping on $100 or more too. Maybe they will see how much response they had with the code and may be rethinking their discounts and how often they will offer them. Who knows?

It's horrifying to DH, I'm sure, but I'd be happy with a periodic free ship on $100 myself. That's four outfits in one swoop! [img]wink.gif[/img]

I think that they ought to offer us multiple purchasers (i.e. big spenders! LOL!) some perks like they do for the Club members.

I don't intend to sign my dds up for the club, mainly because I don't really want them spending their time online (and I think the Club would be a sort of a "gateway" to wanting to surf elsewhere eventually), but we still spend a fortune on AG. So why can't they reward us for that, too? And what about the people who buy for themselves or others and aren't eligible to be in the Club?

How about some "points" or free shoes for the rest of us? [img]smile.gif[/img]

Actually, I think they should thank us! I'm appalled at the amount of money I've spent!!!!

For those who spent a lot, they should give them some sort of a freebie, or at least a gift certificate. I'm sure this will be their best first quarter ever. If they are as smart as I think they are, there will be another code in the Felicity movie that is good for usage from January through March of 2006. Most people don't buy toy items during those first 3 months. People are still paying off their credit cards from Christmas purchases.

I dont know if thank you letters would be well received. Many board members were admonished by customer service for using the code multiple times. Although I understand your motivation (I would love more codes), I dont think we should flaunt our abuse of their mistake in not putting one time only, or restricting it's use.

Just a thought.

I know what you mean about the gateway comment and probably many of us on this list can relate to the internet as a drug, perhaps second only to the dolls, LOL.

I just wanted to let you know, as a mom who is cautious about such things, myself, that you can opt to only use the club educationally - by having your dd's do just the projects and book reviews (that is how you earn stars). My dd is a voracious reader as it is, but this has encouraged her to want to read all their books and to discuss them more with friends in RL. She enjoys penmanship but is not always comfortable expressing herself, and so writing isn't her favorite subject. The club has helped her in this way.

I ordered a second club membership and will be using it myself. I invented a second child to use for the club. I won't be doing the pen pal thing, of course, but will be doing book reviews. I am hoping that if she sees someone else doing them it will be easier for her to find acomfort level with the process. YMMV, of course [img]smile.gif[/img]

I'm sorry, I forgot the mention what I most wanted to in my last post. That is that I feel that the club allows us to teach my dd to use the internet responsibly - perhaps that was inferred, but to me that is all the difference between any drug, internet or anything else.

I have a son who is the same age as nintendo and not much younger than the advent of the internet. All that is known about misuse of the internet came after his birth, so I have had a front row seat of all kinds of things future generations will know better than to do. I remember the first time I saw nintendo and rememebr having a bad feeling about it. The dads and older kids shopping for it already looked addicted, just playing the banks of video units in the store. I told my dh I didn't know that I'd ever want to buy our son such a toy, and he thought I was being a bit silly. Believe me, he has lived to eat a bit of humble pie over that one!

It is extremely difficult to raise a boy in the world of the internet because of the addictive and unsavory aspects - girls are very different ( mos tof them) in this respect! We're winning the battle, but battle it has been, at times, and we know some who have not been so successful ( my son has several peers who can't or won't read - they don't seem to feel comfrotable anywhere but in front of a video screen. Luckily for parents of girls, the percentage of girls who get locked in is infantismal in comparison, if the kids I know are any measure. I think it's pretty much univerasal as video companies have long lamented their inability to make a successful girl's program - AG has tried several times and failed. Girls are much more likely to view the computer as a tool, or creatively than to just get locked in like zombies.

I've always tried to teach both of my kids to use technology responsibly, and have found AG club a good way to do so. YMMV, of course - I am not trying to persuade you, just reassure you if you only need that. . MY dd is 10, also, and using the internet for school research too.

If you have heard of problems, with club users I'd like to hear about them. And I should mention that my kids only use the internet under supervision as well. That is a necessity, IMO.

nann, raises a good point. Although postive feed back is sometimes helpful. I would like to see free shipping. I actually think that is more beneficial to the company because we would combine orders to make up the $100. Instead we placed small orders which must have been time consuming to them. If anything else, UPS would be thrilled with the smaller orders.
